In the spirit of Thanksgiving being one week away, here is a fall themed wedding.

Shannon and Michael wanted to emphasize their German heritage by incorporating several unique wedding traditions. Immediately after the ceremony, the couple sawed a log in half to symbolize the first task they accomplish together as a married couple. (Baumstamm Sagen) This proved more difficult than they expected, but everyone was laughing so hard that it became a highlight of the wedding! Later during the reception, the couple drank a toast using a customary Brautbecher (bridal cup). The pewter cup is in a form of a maiden holding above her head a small cup. Both ends of the cup (the bride's skirt and the top cup) are filled with champagne and the bride and groom drink their toast from this cup together at the same time. Additionally, all the decorations were made by the couple and their families.
