Q&A with the Bride and Groom, Julie and Matt:
How did you meet?
Julie and Matt both grew up on the east coast (Julie- Long Island) (Matt- New Jersey- outside Philadelphia). Matt moved to Colorado in 2006 for college and never left. Julie, after living in New York City for many years, visited Colorado where some friends had moved and felt a strong draw to the slower pace of life and beauty that Denver had to offer and made the move in 2015. Matt and Julie connected in 2017 using a Jewish dating app - JSwipe. They went on their first date in uptown at Stueben's where they shared a lobster roll (luckily Julie steered them away from the messy chicken wings, or things could have turned out differently- "I don't do chicken wings on the first date" she told him with a smile), and discussed travel, politics, and life. Needless to say, they hit it off and they wanted more.
What is your proposal story?
After deciding it was time to take their relationship to the next level, Julie and Matt went to look at some ring styles just to get their feet wet. Julie found a style she liked and they went home. Now equipped with the information he needed Matt went out the next day to get the perfect setting for a diamond he was handed down from his mother. They had plans to travel to Florida to visit Julie's mom two days later and Matt rushed to get everything done and together the night before the flight, just in case Florida was the right place and time to pop the question. Though not originally planned that way, once the ring was in hand, Matt knew what he needed to do. He told Julie's mother upon arrival his plan. They went to the beach the next night at sunset and found a Pier on Juno Beach that had some great views, and it turns out even greater winds (Matt struggled to get the ring out of the jewelry bag for a good 15 seconds that felt like an eternity). They enjoyed the sunset, and sights, and before it was time to leave Matt got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes! Matt thought she was surprised due to how quickly he got it all together, but it turns out Julie had a pretty good hunch it was going down!
