Going over the initial list for this weeks top 10, I realized that this will have to be a multi part list! There are just too many good chick flicks out there. Whether you are looking for a tried and true tear jerker, or a laugh until you cry movie- here is part one of the ever growing list!
1. Clueless- "As if" there is another 1990's chick flick to resonate with, If not for the catch phrases alone, we had iconic & ridiculous California styles plus grungy Paul Rudd to adore in this film.
2. Breakfast at Tiffany's- Watching Holly Golightly take on the streets on Manhattan as an independent gal finding herself is the next best thing to walking those streets yourself.
3. The Notebook- True love at it's absolute best. Need I really say more?
4. Hot to Lose a Guy in 10 Days- Late Hudson and Matthew McConahey are hilarious as they play games with each other to promote their status at work and make fools of themselves all over town!
5. Steel Magnolias- A heartwrenching southern take of friends and family who love and laugh together through the good and very bad times. Get the tissues, you will need them.
6. Mean Girls- Set in my hometown and out about a year after a graduated high school, this is one of the funniest flicks showing the coming of age for a group of know nothing girls who are lead my the meanest of all- none other then a fresh faced Rachel McAdams ( pre-notebook). Even more, you have Lindsay Lohan in her good days and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey adding a hysterical tone to the film.
7. Bridesmaids- The most recent of this list, Bridemaids had every woman watching snorting and peeing in their pants.Starring SLM alums and Gilmore Girls Alum Melissa McCarthy in maybe the funniest performance ever, you can't watch this without re-watching a million more times!
8. Sixteen Candles- Molly Ringwald shows teen angst like none other. This poor girl is tossed aside on her 16th birthday by her too busy family only to wind up having the birthday adventure of a lifetime- complete with fulfilling her dreams of a kiss with her high school crush. Grab the ice cream and girl friends for a double feature and grab Pretty In Pink and make it a night!
9. The Sweetest Thing- This is a lesser know classic featuring Christina Applegate, Cameron Diaz and Selma Blair. With catch phrases that will have you rolling and scenes that are a crack up, a bestie of mine used to watch this and laugh until it hurt, a must see for anyone who hasn't!
10. Now & Then- Four women who grew up together reunite years down the line after drifting apart. It gives truth to phrase who says you can't gp home- no matter what life has brought 20 years later.
