Q&A with the bride and groom:
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?
Our primary inspiration was what brought us together in the first place: the mountains and adventure. Our venue included a lodge that could house all of our closest friends on site, and had everything we needed to set the stage for our ultimate house party/wedding. Our color palette was navy, burgundy and grey with splashes of green. I am 50% Greek, so we incorporated some touches of Greek tradition throughout the evening, such as Greek dancing, baklava, and Koufeta (traditional candy-covered almond wedding favors).
Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
Casa Vista was the perfect canvas for our laid-back, rustic DIY wedding. The ceremony site had a simple A-frame arch, which we decorated with simple florals. We arranged the homemade wood tables and benches in a beer-garden style, to create long, community-style tables at our reception. The reception tent was decorated with simple, elegant floral arrangements, string lights, homemade wall hangings, and photos of our loved ones. The focal point of the reception was the backdrop of our dance floor, which was a back-lit homemade wood mountain-scape made by the groom in our garage. We tried to personalize all of our wedding decor details to tell our story and celebrate our love.
Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
So many of the details of our wedding were incredibly personalized. We had a shotski setup that was from our Ski & Snowboard club in college, which was where we met. We had a personalized "Ski Club Shotski Punch" just for the shotski. Our guest book was an atlas of the USA, with a custom leather cover made by the mother of the groom, which had our wedding logo and names etched onto the front. Our guests signed the atlas with places they recommend for our next adventure! I also have to say one of our favorite parts of the wedding was our awesome DJ and the all-night dance party. The dance floor was packed from right after the first dance, until last call - just how we like it! The highlight though was at the very end of the night when "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem came on, and all of our best friends surrounded us, singing, dancing, hugging. It was magical, and I still tear-up when I think about it.
How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
Keanan and I met in college at CU Boulder through the Ski and Snowboard Club on campus. We both were elected to the board of directors, and were in charge of planning events and trips for the club. We were very close friends all through college - both dating other people during our time in Boulder. After we graduated, we both ended up single in Denver, which is when our friendship turned into something more. After being friends for 5-years, and dating for 7-years, Keanan decided it was time to pop the question. We were out mountain biking on one of the trails near our condo in Fraser, and Keanan had a plan to propose at a beautiful overlook on the trail. Naturally, part of the trail was closed for an event, so he had to improvise. We hiked down to the Fraser River after our ride, to get as close to the overlook as possible. I thought he was acting so strange... until he dropped down to one knee with the beautiful ring he designed himself!
